This year Vintage Rock met with Bobby Brooks Wilson to honour the life and career of his father, Mr Excitement, Jackie Wilson. A panoply of modern female artists joined us to give thanks to the Queen of Rockabilly, Wanda Jackson, who blazed a trail for women to follow in rock’n’roll.
We took a trip to Memphis to check out the sights and sounds that Elvis Presley was immersed in during his early years as he carved out a name for himself in the music business. Sixty years after his tragic and untimely passing, we met with the son of Johnny Burnette, Rocky, to celebrate the lasting legacy of the pioneering Rock’n’Roll Trio. We also joined the Stray Cats’ Slim Jim Phantom as the band embarked on a full US tour.
