Words Of Love promises to be the definitive celebration of the much-loved singer
Genesis Publications is publishing a new book, Buddy Holly: Words Of Love, which will the definitive celebration of Buddy Holly.
In partnership with María Elena Holly and the Buddy Holly Educational Foundation, Words Of Love was born out of a conversation with Roger Daltrey who first conceived the idea of publishing the book back in 2017.
This seminal volume covers Buddy’s life, music and enduring legacy, offering an unseen perspective on the man behind the timeless music.
Words Of Love charts the rise of a musical pioneer who defied conventions and changed the course of music history.
Buddy’s career is presented through a large collection of never-before-seen photography and personal items belonging to Buddy Holly, accompanied by the stories of those close to him.
Personal Tributes
María Elena Holly is joined by more than 80 iconic musicians who cite Holly as a central influence on their own incredible careers, many of whom are ambassadors of the Buddy Holly Educational Foundation.
Contributors include Crickets Jerry ‘JI’ Allison and Sonny Curtis and friends of Buddy, Paul Anka, Dion, Duane Eddy and Don Everly, alongside Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Emmylou Harris, Brian May, Van Morrison, Dolly Parton, Robert Plant, Keith Richards, Ed Sheeran, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Pete Townshend, among many more.
Illustrating their text, each contributor has provided a handwritten dedication to Buddy, their own ‘Words Of Love’.
With proceeds benefitting Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America, the book is presented in three highly collectible limited edition boxed sets and features original cover art created specially by Ronnie Wood, with a foreword by María Elena Holly and an introduction by esteemed music critic Greil Marcus.
Deluxe Edition
Numbered 1 to 500 and priced at £945, each Deluxe copy is signed by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend.
The Deluxe copies are quarter-bound in apple leather and cloth with black and sonic blue foiling and gold page edging. The front cover is screen printed with artwork created exclusively for this project by Ronnie Wood. Additionally, Deluxe copies include a photographic print of a previously unpublished portrait of Buddy. Completing the boxed set, an exclusive 7″ vinyl pressing features two rare home recordings made by Buddy Holly.
Artluxe Edition
Numbered 501 to 550 and priced at £2,495, the Artluxe copies are fully bound in apple leather with sonic blue and gold foiling and gold page edging.
As well as being signed by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, the Artluxe copies are also signed by Buddy’s wife, María Elena Holly. The Artluxe copies are accompanied by an exclusive framed and hand-numbered fine art print. The artwork vividly reproduces Ronnie Wood’s painting of Buddy Holly that was created specially for this project. Completing the Artluxe boxed set, an exclusive 7″ vinyl pressing features two rare home recordings made by Buddy Holly.
Luthier Edition
Numbered 551 to 559 and priced at £10,945, only nine Luthier copies are to be created.
Containing all the content of the Artluxe and Deluxe copies, a limited-edition replica of Holly’s Gibson J45 is also included. This is the same guitar gifted to the Buddy Holly Educational Foundation’s ambassadors. Complete with a hand-tooled leatherwork cover, this a faithful reproduction of the instrument on which Buddy composed many of his hits. The Luthier copies are fully bound in tooled leather inspired by the leather cover of Buddy’s Gibson J45.
